Uberchord has been selected as one of the three participants of the Abbey Road Studio, London’s very first start-up accelerator program Abbey Road Red

Ever since we found out about being selected as a participant of the program, we’ve been ecstatic. Here is the official Forbes Magazine article.

Being part of the accelerator program means that Uberchord receives unparalleled support from two of the biggest and the most iconic music brands in the world – Abbey Road Studios, London and Universal Music Group. It gives us access to one-on-one sessions with music industry experts, access to the legendary Studio No. 3 at the Abbey Road, facilities like meeting rooms, networking events, and media exposure. And that’s just to name a few. But most of all, the association with the world’s most iconic, historical and loved music brand, Abbey Road Studios is just simply amazing.

Launched in 2015, Abbey Road Red is the British music icon’s initiative to develop and support the next generation of music technologies in innovation. Backed up by parent company, Universal Music, Red runs Europe’s only music tech specific incubator program.

Our CEO Eckart Burgwedel adding another feather to his cap commented, “just being associated with Abbey Road is an honour. I mean, these guys have literally seen close to a century of music fame and history. Their deep roots in both the international artist scene and the music business give us a competitive edge in getting access to the right people and the necessary credibility to actually form partnerships with them.”

With the latest major update of the  Uberchord app, now you can:

• Create Personal profiles for enabling learning statistics, schedule daily reminders and personalized workouts.
• Set your own goals and track your daily, weekly or monthly progress
• The world’s first musical workout: Strengthen your weak chords by hitting the “daily workout” button in the profile
• A composition engine that creates personalized exercises from your existing chord repertoire that sounds like music.
• Advanced Learning Path with finger-twisting chord shapes for you pros out there
• Guitar monitor (playthrough): if you are using an electric guitar, you can now hear it through your headphones or any connected sound system.
• Works now with background amp modelling. Activate background audio in apps like GarageBand, Amplitube, or Ampkit and play with the coolest sounds
• Audio setting screen: activate guitar monitor and mix it together with the drums.

UPDATE: We have just been informed about the demise of the legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin, the mastermind who was responsible for bringing The Beatles into Abbey Road Studios back in 1962. It really saddens us to know that he is no longer with us while his legacy and music will live on forever and ever. We wish and pray for strength and harmony for his family and friends. Here is a video interview of Sir George Martin done by BBC One back in 1998 where he shares his life experiences and his work on the last album at the Abbey Road Studios after working in the recording business for 46 years.

The speed dating pitch competition took place on Saturday at the deGUT startup fair in Berlin. Uberchord was one of the five pre-selected finalists invited to pitch. The pitch event included some really cool teams with promising ideas. In fact, one of the startups was already in the green, which does not happen too often in an early stage pitch. Also, what we really liked about the outcome of the event is that everyone  benefited. All five startups ended up receiving mentors from the BACB to help with advice on strategy and financing.

As the winner of the competition, our team will have the honor to work directly with Thomas Dankwart. Thomas was recently appointed head of the entire Business Angels Club Berlin. We are excited to get started!

On Friday, September 5th, our team attended and received a prize at the 2014 IKT startup competition awards ceremony at IFA.  We won the IKT Innovativ Gründerwettbewerb, which translates to “Innovative Founders Competition” in English.

This is a particularly important win for us because IKT is the largest German startup competition with over 290 applicants this year. The prizes were handed out by Brigitte Zypries, the German Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BWMi). The news was recently picked up by Heise.de, a large German technology news site and we’ve already noticed a large spike in referral traffic as a result.

Our vision to change the world of music education has been validated tremendously. Uberchord won top 6 at BPW 2014, a local startup competition in Berlin. BPW, which stands for The Berlin Business Plan Competition, is the largest regional startup initiative in Germany. For 19 years, the BPW competition has been helping people develop business concepts, promoting successful business startups. An impressive 190 teams participated in BPW 2014, which meant that competition was extremely fierce – it goes to show that we didn’t win despite our rating of 90%. Nevertheless, aside from feeling a little proud, we especially appreciate the opportunity to subject our business plan with the scrutiny of experienced and well respected business experts. We received very clear and helpful feedback to improve our pitch for the next competition. As always, thanks for reading. Uberchord Wins 15th ICT Investor’s Day Competition

We are a little proud that we just won the 15th annual ICT Investor’s Day Competition in Zurich, Switzerland. The audience seemed to like our idea of a mobile guitar teacher as much as the jury did. In fact, after a 90 seconds pre-qualification pitch they wanted to hear more and voted us into the second round.

The second pitch was about ten minutes with a subsequent demo of our technology. It all went very well with a warm round of applause and lots of inspiring conversations afterwards over beer and white wine. Thanks to Jan Fülscher from Business Angel Club Switzerland and Gert Christen from BlueLion Incubator for hosting the event!
